Piro: How to Build a 2WD Raspberry Pi 2 Balancing Robot

Ready to level-up your Raspberry Pi skills in robotics? Piro is a self-balancing wheeled robot capable of running some high-level algorithms in computer vision and speech recognition.

On his blog, the designer Patrick Aalto shows us how to build this two-wheeled balancing robot and also explains the reasons to build this interesting type of robot.

This platform allows the designer to learn about ARM NEON programming. This type of programming can be applied on a platform with the ARMv7-A architecture profile. The Raspberry Pi 2 board has an ARM Cortex A7 quad-core processor powerful enough to run advanced algorithms like image processing and speech recognition.

You’ll find on Piro – Blog a build guide together with answers to some questions about how to do it.
